Project name: research of opportunity for developing potato market by region in Mongolia

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Made “Research of opportunity for developing potato market by region in Mongolia” based on aimags of Central region and studied opportunity of developing potato market by region and produced recommendation on opportunity of regional development.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Made cost-benefit analysis of potato sector in Mongolia based on crop region and conducted research processing and analysis on the respective region and processed recommendation related to defining potato market development by region.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Training for rural experts: “Opportunity of defining rural development by region with Ruralinvest program” was conducted based on Central and Western region. Created and explained plan of regional development, also consulted on method of processing rural regional development program.

Project name: Poverty-Environment Initiative

Financing organization: United Nations Environment Program, United Nations Development Program

Contractor: The Government of Mongolia, the Ministry of Finance and “The project of strengthening planning system of development policy” implemented by Development Program of the United Nations.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Consulted on reflecting the issues of equally accessible green economy, reducing poverty and protecting nature and environment during the national and rural planning, monitoring-analysis and evaluation stage. Reflecting and expanding the issues of green economy in T21  model of macroeconomics; worked in the working group of processing “Green economy policy” (approved by the State Great Khural in 2014.06.13) and “Operation plan of implementing green development policy” (approved by the Government in 2016.01.11); Organized training for state officials who conduct planning and monitoring-analysis and evaluation; Reflected the issue of sustainable development in “Law of development policy planning”. Also “Green economy, green development: Terminology” training was organized, participants: in total 582 officials from the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Social Protection of Population Development, Ministry of Nature and Environment, Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences, Ministry of Road and Transport and Ulaanbaatar City Government.

Result: Reflected the issue of equally accessible green economy in evaluation handbook, the knowledge and capacity of green economy policy makers, Center and rural planners and monitoring-analysis and evaluation experts improved.

Project name: “Ruralinvest course for professional service providers”

Financing organization: Integrated Livestock based Livelihoods Support Program UTF/MON/009/MON).

Contractor: FAO of the United Nations

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Knowledge and capacity training of Ruralinvest created by FAO Investment Centre of the United Nations (Module 1: Importance of defining rural investment need by participatory method, Module 2: Preparing summary of and processing and evaluating income generating and non-income generating project, Module 3: preparing, processing and evaluating detailed income generating and non-income generating project) was held for 35 professional service providers of 15 soums selected from Arkhangai, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Bayankhongor and Khuvsgul aimags.

Result: In the scope of the project Agricultural Marketing, a project of 15 billion MNT has been implemented in the 5 aimags mentioned above.

Project name: Ruralinvest training for members of Soum regulatory commission, cooperatives of herders and crop farmers, companies, groups, small and medium scale enterprise who are processing proposal for subproject.

Financing organization: Integrated Livestock based Livelihoods Support Program UTF/MON/009/MON).

Contractor: FAO of the United Nations.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Training on finding project idea using the participatory method in the scope of Ruralinvest and on basic understanding of processing project and consulted in total 56 participants from Tsetsen-Uul and Yaruu soums of Zavkhan aimag (Tsetsen-Uul soum-26, Yaruu soum-30) in which 10 members from Soum Regulatory Commission, 2 experts from Consultancy Service Provider, 14 representatives from cooperatives and companies, 5 herders and representatives of herders group, 15 unemployed people and 10 experts from Veterinary and Animal Breeding Unit and other organisations.

Result: from these 2 soums, for Agricultural Marketing project, in total 100 project proposals were received and 20 % were supported.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Conducted “Research of wheat cost” by choosing family, entity and organization of main crop plantation region and by this selective research, estimated direct material and labor cost, additional cost of production and other indirect costs of 1 ton wheat, made analysis, evaluation and conclusion.

Result: Report written in Mongolian of the research work was handed over to the Ministry.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: In the scope of “Contribution or economic value of Khangai Nuruu National Park’s Administration in the development of ecosystem service sector” research work, estimated and analysed the benefit received from the ecosystem service of special protected area in intended sectors of Bulgan, Ikh Tamir, Khotont, Tsenkher and Chuluut soums of Arkhangai aimag, Galuut and Erdenetsogt soums of Bayankhongor aimag and Bat-Ulzii, Uyanga, Kharkhorin and Khujirt soums of Uvurkhangai aimag.

Result: an article has been published by the result of report and research written in Mongolian of the research work.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: In the scope of “Contribution or economic value from Khan Khentii Strictly Protected in the development of ecosystem service sector” research work, calculated and analysed the benefit received from the ecosystem service of special protected area in intended sectors of Batshireet and Umnudelger soums of Khentii aimag, Khuder, Yuruu and Mandal soums of Selenge aimag and Batsumber, Erdene and Mungunmorit soums of Tuv aimag.

Result: Promotion article has been published by the result of report and research written in Mongolian and English of the research work.

Result: Citizens and entities participated in the training learnt methods of expanding their own business, raising investment and processing feasibility study for starting new business.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: In the scope of “Opportunity for increasing the capacity of agriculture production orientated on export in remote areas of Mongolia” research work, possible region for developing agriculture sector in Mongolia, its classification and agriculture products orientated for export were defined.

Result: An article was published by the results of report and research written in Mongolian and English of this research work.

Project name: “Making general analysis on the economic benefits, business environment and capacity of projects related to livestock management and livestock-based production and producing recommendation on the respective business orientation” consultancy work

Financing organization: KfW with non-repayable financial aid of Germany

Contractor: “Biodiversity and adaptation to climate change project” implemented jointly by GIZ and the Ministry of Nature and Environment

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Evaluated projects from 11 Protected Area’s Administration that improve the livelihood of herders in special protected zone which and consulted on developing livestock husbandry which is beneficial to nature and environment.

Result: Made evaluation on 30 projects, consulted on preparing project proposal of livestock based production which is beneficial to nature and environment and orientated on improving livelihood of rural herders.

Project name: “Training for processing investment plan using Ruralinvest toolkit”

Financing organization: FAO of the United Nations

Contractor: Integrated Livestock based Livelihoods Support Program (UTF/MON/009/MON).

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Conducted training of Ruralinvest toolkit for 12 officials from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, 10 people representing aimags, 3 people from NGOs, in total 25 people.

Result: The participants learnt the knowledge of the benefits of participatory method, finding investment idea using Ruralinvest toolkit, choosing important necessary project idea and initiative and processing and evaluating business plan by summary and detailed form.

Project name: “Consultancy on using Ruralinvest toolkit in investment project of small and medium scale enterprise”

Financing organization: World Bank, Organisation Development Fund

Contractor: the Government of Mongolia, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Trained and consulted the experts from state organization and NGOs which finance projects on finding investment idea using Ruralinvest toolkit, choosing important necessary project idea and initiative and processing, analysing and evaluating business plan by summary and detailed form.

Result: 20 experts from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and 3 members from NGOs learnt the skills mentioned above.

Project name: “Increasing employment in Mongolia: Developing value chain of livestock based products and vegetable production with the participation of private sector”

Financing organization: EU

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: In the scope of “Export and import of agricultural products: harmonizing with value added chain” research work, defined export, import and value added chain of main products of agriculture such as meat, milk, leather, wool, cashmere, potato, vegetable and honey and conducted analysis.

Result: Planning to publish book by the result of report and research written in Mongolian and English of research work and to publish on the website of FAO of the United Nations.

Project name: “Strengthening the network of civil society organization”

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: in the scope of the work “Market research of potato and vegetables”, defined and analysed the market research and value added chain of potato and vegetable in Khentii aimag.

Result: A book was published by the results of report and research written in Mongolian and English of this research work.

Project name: “Market and development of pasture management”

Financing organization: International Fund for Agricultural Development

Contractor: the Government of Mongolia, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: In the scope of “Making proposal for version of livestock based raw material preparation system” consultancy work, in total 15 soums of Gobi-Altai, Dundgobi, Uvurkhangai, Khuvsgul and Khentii aimags were selected and evaluated current situation of many issues such as current situation of livestock based raw material preparation system, preparation, and participants and furthermore defined possible version of improving livestock based raw material preparation system and made analysis.

Result: Introduction was made to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry by the results of report and research written in Mongolian and English of the research work and infographic related to raw material preparation system were distributed.

Project name: “Increasing employment in Mongolia: Developing value chain of livestock based products and vegetable production with the participation of private sector”

Financing organization: EU

Contractor: FAO of the United Nations, SECiM2.

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: consulted the management and other members of “Oldokhiin Devshikh” cooperative on the skills and knowledge of finding investment idea using Ruralinvest toolkit, choosing important necessary project idea and initiative and processing, analysing and evaluating investment project and business plan by summary and detailed form.

Result: the knowledge and capacity of the 4 members of this cooperative increased and they processed business project of their own cooperative.

Project name: Using Ruralinvest toolkit in investment project of small and medium scale enterprise

Activity conducted in the scope of the project: Consulted on the skills and knowledge of finding investment idea using Ruralinvest toolkit, choosing important necessary project idea and initiative and processing, analysing and evaluating investment project and business plan by summary and detailed form.

Result: the knowledge and capacity of the 5 members who participated increased and they processed business project on the example of their aimags.
